Heffley, Argall to host sportsmen’s expo

Continuing a longstanding tradition to celebrate the many outdoor recreational activities available in Carbon County and the neighboring Pocono Mountain region, Rep. Doyle Heffley, R-Carbon, and Sen. David Argall, R-Schuylkill/Carbon/Luzerne, are hosting their Sportsmen’s and Outdoor Expo.

The free event, now in its 12th year, takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Penn Forest Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, 1387 State Route 903, Jim Thorpe.

“Our area offers so many opportunities for getting outside,” Heffley said. “We’re coming off a cold winter, and this expo is a great opportunity to connect with vendors from local retailers and sportsmen’s clubs in Carbon County and surrounding areas.”

Nearly three dozen organizations, including the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission; the Pennsylvania Game Commission; the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office; and several conservation, education and outdoor‑recreation groups will be there.

“This event is a great opportunity for families to learn about the organizations dedicated to outdoor activities across our region,” said Argall. “I encourage you to join us to learn more about what our community has to offer.”
