Carbon County sentencings

Carbon County Judge Steven R. Serfass has accepted guilty pleas and sentenced four people charged by police.

Carl L. Miller Sr., 73, no address given, was charged by Lehighton Police Officer Bruce T. Broyles with recklessly endangering another person; criminal trespass; public drunkenness; and criminal mischief in the borough on Sept. 30, 2025.

He pleaded guilty to the reckless endangerment charge. The remaining charges were dropped.

Serfass sentenced him to three to 23 months, with 97 days credit, in Carbon County Correctional Facility.

Serfass also ordered Miller to perform 100 hours of community service, undergo a mental health evaluation and to pay $250 restitution to the victim. He must also pay a $100 LiveScan fee and a $50 monthly supervision fee.

Frank F. Charamonte, 58, of Albrightsville, was charged by Fern Ridge State Trooper Craig L. Karpinski with two counts of criminal mischief; two counts of disorderly conduct; two counts of harassment; and public drunkenness in Penn Forest Township on Oct. 3, 2025.

He pleaded guilty to one count of disorderly conduct. The remaining charges were dropped.

Serfass ordered him to pay $1,500 restitution to the victim and to serve 12 months on probation. Serfass also ordered Charamonte to pay a monthly $50 supervision fee, give a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee, and undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation.

Carly Jo Fairchild, 33, of Lehighton, was charged by Lehighton State Trooper Salvador L. Melo with possessing a controlled substance; possessing drug paraphernalia; and public drunkenness in Weissport on June 11, 2025.

She pleaded guilty to the paraphernalia charge. The remaining charges were dropped.

Serfass ordered her to serve one year of probation, undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and comply with any recommended treatment, and to perform 50 hours of community service.

Christina M. Murray, 43, no address given, was charged by Lehighton Police Officer Matthew M. Arner with endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person in the borough on March 3, 2023.

She pleaded guilty to recklessly endangering another person. The remaining charge was dropped.

Serfass sentenced her to 24 months of probation. He also ordered her to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation, perform 100 hours of community service, and pay a $75 LiveScan fee and a $50 monthly supervision fee.

In a separate case, Murray was charged by the Carbon County District Attorney’s Office with furnishing a drug free urine sample in Jim Thorpe on Dec. 27, 2023.

She pleaded guilty, and Serfass placed her on 12 months of probation, to be served at the same time as the previous sentence, and ordered her to perform 50 hours of community service.
