No injuries were reported after firefighters were called early Monday morning to Giant Food Store in Mahoning Township.
Mahoning Valley fire Chief Mark Ebbert said firefighters were dispatched around 4:30 a.m. to the store at 1241 Blakeslee Blvd. Dr. E at the Carbon Plaza Mall.
“It was a heat trace wire that had shorted out around the freezer door,” Ebbert said. “Their maintenance contractor was on-site and wanted to make sure there was no fire in the wall of the freezer.”
Ebbert said firefighters were on the scene for about a half-hour.
He said also assisting at the scene were Mahoning Valley Ambulance.
