Crafts take center stage at Mt. Pocahontas fair
Vendors filled two rooms at the Mt. Pocahontas clubhouse for their third annual spring craft fair Saturday. Everything from coffee hazelnut cream syrup (“good on ice cream”) to Three Little Birds wine, a tribute to Bob Marley, to hair tints and jewelry was available.
James Talerico’s Tropical Wines come from The Finger Lakes region of New York, which he started selling eight years ago. Maple syrup made with Pennsylvania shag bark came in unique flavors including coffee black silk.
Paulette Leslie, president of Mount Pocohontas homeowners association, said, “We wanted to bring the community together and give local vendors an opportunity to sell their products.”
Jen Gilbert of Robin Hood Lakes has been making diamond picture art for six years, including gnomes and outdoor scenes. Gilbert makes custom diamond pictures from photographs, too.
Twelve-year-old Athena Hample was selling her wares that she made with her friend Shyla Nolan for the first time. Hample and Nolan began making bracelets, keychains and zipper pulls in February and had an array of colorful accessories for sale.
Tinsel Town Fairy Hair offered hair tints, strands of different color tints, that owner Julie Bell could put on your hair right there.It takes about 15 minutes to put 10 strands in which can then be treated as regular hair, which will stay in when blow dried, curled or dyed.
Ellen Dianni of Kunkletown, uses socks to make her “Whimsical Wabbits” for her business “Heart made by Elweenie,” a nickname her mom called her. Dianni started a year ago after making snowmen at a group craft making event.
She thought it would be great to start making items for a spring craft fair.
Tempting homemade cakes and brownies were available as well as handmade towels and dish clothes.
