As scams become more sophisticated and widespread, Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon) and Sen. David Argall (R-Carbon/Schuylkill/Luzerne) are hosting two scam seminars on Monday.
The first seminar will be held at 11 a.m. at Panther Valley Senior Center at the Nesquehoning Schoolhouse Apartments, 90 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning. The second seminar will take place at 2 p.m. at Forest Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, 1000 Evergreen Ave., Weatherly.
“We’re in tax season and we often see scammers try new tricks to take advantage of people, especially seniors,” Heffley said. “We’re pleased to partner with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General because it has the latest information on how to spots these schemes, which can potentially cost residents thousands of dollars.”
“With scammers becoming increasingly brazen and creative, we all need to be aware of how to protect ourselves from falling prey to these criminals,” Argall said.
Heffley and Argall will be joined at both events by David P. Shallcross, director of Senior Protection with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General.
All are welcome to attend. Registration isn’t required, but it is preferred. To register, please contact Heffley’s office at 610-377-6363.
