The dog park in the West End of Palmerton is closed until further notice due to vandalism.

Palmerton Borough posted word of the closure on its Facebook page.

This isn’t the first time that the park at Alley J, above portions of the 800 and 900 blocks of Edgemont Avenue, has been closed.

In March 2024, the park reopened after it has been closed since mid-January of that year.

The park was off limits during that time period.

Borough Manager Autumn Canfield said at that time one of its proponents called the borough about concerns with water running through with the rain and the snow and the frozen ground.

She said the borough was merely trying to preserve the dog park for that season so that it would stay nice for spring.
