Carbon County sentencings
Carbon County judges have accepted guilty pleas from the following people.
• Savannah N. Casiano, 29, of New York City, New York, was charged by Fern Ridge State Trooper Jeremy J. Kenosky with using an access device issued to another person without that person’s permission and theft by deception in Penn Forest Township on March 23, 2022.
She pleaded guilty to the access device charge, and Judge Steven R. Serfass sentenced her to 30 months of probation and ordered her to perform 150 hours of community service.
Casiano was also ordered to pay a $50 monthly supervision fee and court costs.
• Paul R. Williams, 61, no address given, was charged by Fern Ridge State Trooper Gabrielle van Wie with terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and harassment in Weatherly on March 24, 2025.
He pleaded guilty to the harassment charge, and Judge Joseph J. Matika sentenced him to six months of probation and ordered him to perform 25 hours of community service. Williams was also ordered to pay a $100 LiveScan fee and a $50 monthly supervision fee.
• James L. Yenca Jr., 39, of Jim Thorpe, was charged by Franklin Township police Officer Christopher M. Lekka with possessing a controlled substance, having a small amount of marijuana and defiant trespass actual communication on Feb. 1, 2025, in the township.
He pleaded guilty to the marijuana charge, and Judge Joseph J. Matika fined him $150 and also ordered him to pay a $100 LiveScan fee.
• Troy D. Weil, 48, of Lehighton, was charged by Franklin Township police Officer David M. Roberts with endangering the welfare of children, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment in the township on March 21, 2025.
He pleaded guilty to recklessly endangering another person, and Judge Joseph J. Matika sentenced him to one year of probation. Weil was also ordered to take anger management and parenting courses and to perform 50 hours of community service.
• Brittani A. Gosnear, 36, of Philadelphia, was charged by Carbon County Sheriff’s Deputy Nicole M. Thalmann with failing to appear for a court proceeding and disorderly conduct in Nesquehoning on Sept. 11, 2021.
She pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct, and President Judge Roger N. Nanovic sentenced her to one year of probation and ordered her to continue drug treatment. She was also ordered to pay a $50 monthly supervision fee and a $100 LiveScan fee.
Her sentence is to be served at the same time as one in Philadelphia and another in Carbon County.
• Antonio R. August Jr., 40, no address given, was charged by Lehighton state Trooper Mark E. Bower with driving under the influence of a controlled substance; failing to obey a stop sign; failing to stay in his lane; speeding; careless driving; and having a small amount of marijuana in Lower Towamensing Township on June 7, 2025.
He pleaded guilty to the marijuana charge, and President Judge Roger N. Nanovic fined him $500.
