State police at the Frackville barracks responded to a theft by deception incident at 6:45 a.m. Feb. 25 at the Conoco convenience store and gas station at 1320 Morea Road, Mahanoy Township.

They said a man arrived at the business and pretended to deposit $50 in a skills game machine. He then approached the counter and told an employee that the machine had taken his money.

Police said the employee gave $50 to the man, who then left.

It was later discovered that the man never put money into the machine, according to police.
