Theft of Verizon wiring reported

State police at the Bethlehem barracks are investigating two theft of Verizon wiring, one in which the stolen property is listed as having a value of approximately $100,000.

Police said they were called at 11:04 a.m. Feb. 25 to 4040 Old Mill Road, Washington Township, for the major theft.

They said it was determined about one mile of copper wire was stolen. It was connected to numerous power line posts.

Police said a 2006 Ford is involved in the incident. They said the investigation remains open and anyone having information about the theft is asked to contact them at their barracks.

A second theft of wiring happened earlier, having been reported at 11:45 a.m. Feb. 21.

Police said they were called to Saegersville and Central roads, Heidelberg Township, where Verizon crew members reported damaged and stolen pole wires.

They told police someone damaged phone cables, cutting and stealing about 300 feet of wiring.
