Pl. Valley pursing grants for HVAC, roof
The Pleasant Valley School Board is pursuing $5 million in grants.
Last week, the directors voted to approve filing two applications for grants that would help fund two projects at the Pleasant Valley Middle School. Both grants are through Public School Facility Improvement Grant program from the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
The first grant is for $3.5 million to upgrade the heating, ventilation and air conditioning at the middle school. The second grant is for $1.5 million for a roofing project. No further information was available, and none of the directors had any questions for discussion.
The school board acknowledged and approved of the Education Department at Fox Rothschild LLP, the appointed solicitor for the school district, merging with the Education Group at McNees, Wallace & Nurick LLC effective April 1.
Gesiskie asked for an explanation for the change.
Attorney Mark Fitzgerald, an employee of Fox Rothschild who is assigned to represent the school district, said this move is something that he and his partner have been working on for about 10 months.
“We have decided to collectively move our practice group of roughly 30 attorneys, paralegals, paraprofessionals, support staff to the firm of McNees, Wallace, which is a great firm out of Harrisburg,” he said.
Fitzgerald said the move will have no impact on the school district. The personnel and rates will stay the same. This approval just allows them to begin the transition of files.
