Couple facing kidnapping charges

A Maryland couple accused of kidnapping a 6-month-old child from a Parryville home following a custody dispute has waived charges to Carbon County Court of Common Pleas.

The affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper Daniel Magarelli of the Pennsylvania State Police, Lehighton barracks, in the case against Dylan Vanskiver, 19, and Erica Noonan, 36, both of Edgewood, Maryland, says:

On Feb. 23, troopers were dispatched to a home in the 200 block of North Fireline Road, Parryville, for a domestic disturbance involving the alleged abduction of a 6-month-old boy.

The mother of the child told police she lives in Missouri with her 6-month-old son, but was visiting her sister in Parryville.

The woman said earlier in the day she had been contacted by Vanskiver, her former boyfriend.

She said she was in a relationship with Vanskiver in Missouri during 2025, which ended about four months ago.

The woman said Vanskiver may potentially be the biological father of the child; however, paternity has not been established.

No father is listed on the child’s birth certificate, and no custody order is in place.

The woman reported that just after 2, Vanskiver and Noonan came at the home in Parryville to visit the child.

While Vanskiver was holding the child, an argument started between the woman and Vanskiver regarding custody of the child.

Vanskiver and Noonan left abruptly with the child. Court documents say Noonan pushed the woman’s mother aside as they left.

Vanskiver placed the child into a gray Dodge Hornet with a temporary Maryland registration. It did not have a child safety seat.

They began traveling toward the Edgewood area.

The woman told police that while she lived in Missouri, Vanskiver had sent her text messages from Maryland, threatening to take the child.

Both Vanskiver and Noonan face charges of kidnapping of a minor, interference with custody, concealing whereabouts of child, and endangering welfare of children.

They were arraigned Friday before District Judge William J. Kissner of Palmerton, but chose to waive their preliminary hearing and are scheduled to appear for a pretrial status conference in the Carbon County Court of Common Pleas on May 7.

Both remain free on $100,000 unsecured bail.

Vanskiver is prohibited from contacting the mother or the child.
