Are you looking for a new man’s best friend? Why not check out the Carbon County Animal Shelter?
One day remains for the annual “Love a Dog for Life” month in the hopes of finding more dogs in the shelter forever homes. The county animal shelter is at 63 Broad St., Nesquehoning, on top of the Broad Mountain off Route 93.
To celebrate the month, the adoption fee has been decreased from $100 to $50.
Carbon County began naming February as a special month at the shelter in 2014 and it helped increase the number of adoptions in previous years.
The number of dogs under the shelter’s care can fluctuate quickly; however, the shelter has been at or above capacity for several months.
For more information on the shelter or to adopt a dog, visit the shelter between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Friday or 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday. People also can check out the facility on Facebook at Carbon County Animal Shelter PA.
The staff asks that people call ahead at 570-325-4828 to make sure someone is available, since sometimes they are called out for a rescue.
