Weatherly increases development, zoning review fee schedule

Weatherly Borough Council upped the borough’s fee schedules to cover costs related to development and zoning reviews.

On Monday, council approved new fee schedules for subdivision and land development and zoning.

Mayor/Council President Michael Bellizia explained that fees for the subdivision land development are out of date and aren’t covering the borough’s expenses.

Similarly, the fees associated with zoning reviews are also outdated, he said.

“Things are coming to light as we’re digging through the reorganization,” Bellizia said. “We’re looking to bring things up to speed and get them where they’re supposed to be.”

Council tabled action on an ordinance to vacate Blakeslee Street, Walnut Alley and Seventh Street, as additional information was being gathered regarding the property descriptions.

Under public comment, American Legion Post 360 Commander Harry Shelhammer asked for permission to hold a Memorial Day parade on May 25, and to host a countywide Veterans Day parade on Nov. 8, with a rain date of Nov. 15. He also submitted a request to erect an honor roll sign for veterans.

Bellizia didn’t see any problems with the parade requests, but will check on the dates to confirm. He also didn’t see a problem with a sign, but asked Shelhammer to check with borough on a site inspection.

Georgann Herling, representing the American Legion Auxiliary, asked for use of the borough parking lot for American Legion Family Day on April 25. Again, Bellizia said they would check the date, but saw no problem.
