A Monroe County man is wanted on arson and other charges for allegedly starting a structure fire on Monday.
Pocono Mountain Regional Police responded at 5:58 p.m. to 616 Uncus Lane, Pocono Pines, for a structure fire.
The fire originated at 616 Uncus Lane, but also consumed three other connecting townhomes.
Upon arrival, police spoke with a witness who said he saw the owner, Sean McDermott, 36, of Pocono Pines, setting small fires within the townhome throughout the day.
McDermott said that he needed to kill the spiders within the residence, and had a smoldering fire going on the floor and then placed a love seat on top of the fire.
The witness said he kept putting fires out and McDermott kept lighting them.
He stated both he and McDermott left the home and went to different locations.
They both arrived back to find the townhome engulfed in flames.
McDermott then fled the scene in a U-Haul truck, and is now wanted on charges of arson, aggravated arson, causing or risking a catastrophe, criminal mischief and recklessly endangering another person.
McDermott is considered a fugitive from justice, and anyone with information on his whereabouts are asked to call 911 or the Pocono Mountain Regional Police.
