The historic Sherman Theater in downtown Stroudsburg announced that it is entering into an agreement with The Bowery Presents, the leading East Coast concert promoter and venue operator, and subsidiary of AEG Presents, to program events at the landmark venue.

This strategic move is an important next step in strengthening the arts as a cornerstone of Stroudsburg’s cultural and economic identity. The adjustment to future Sherman programming mix and entertainment offerings is a key plank in building the new arts product, and serves as the crucial step for a long-term strategic partnership.

“Preserving and enhancing the Sherman is a task worth undertaking,” said Chris Barrett, vice president and general manager of the Sherman Theater.

“We envision a vibrant future where the arts become a defining product of Stroudsburg, with the Sherman Theater serving as a catalyst for a dynamic destination — a true mecca for creativity and culture in the Pocono Mountains.”

The Bowery Presents operates and books a diverse range of venues across the East Coast.

“The Bowery Presents partnering with the Sherman is an exciting development in the application of our long-term plan, as are the efforts of industry veteran Jim Steen,” Barrett added.

“They will bring world class entertainment to Stroudsburg and the Pocono Mountains.”
