Panther students present window security project
Panther Valley High School Student Council is showing its pride and investing in the future.
Student council members from ninth to 12th grade came to Panther Valley School Board’s meeting Wednesday to present a project to place a one-way security window film on the school’s front doors.
“We are here because we believe in the potential of our school,” Morgan Orsulak, student council president, said.
“Panther Valley students are sometimes underestimated by those outside our walls,” she said. “We know that pride exists here.”
The window film with the school’s panther logo will allow staff to see out clearly, while preventing anyone from seeing into the main vestibule and lobby, Orsulak said.
“In an era where school safety is a top priority, this adds a vital layer of privacy and protection,” she said, adding that at the same time it shows the outside world who they are and their Panther pride.
“It transforms a plain glass entrance into a point of pride,” Orsulak said. It tells everyone who walks those doors that Panther Valley is a place of excellence.”
The window film, which will cost $2,500, is fully funded by the school council through fundraising efforts, Orsulak and co-adviser Jennifer Jones said.
While the student council does numerous fundraisers, funds raised through homecoming are the main source for the project, Jones said.
Council members presented the board with an image of the window film, which was hung in the board room. Board members and Superintendent Dave McAndrew thanked the students for their hard work and investment.
