Monroe Commissioners grants

The Monroe County commissioners approved several grants during their meeting on Wednesday.

These grants include:

• The 2025-2026 Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness Grant of $18,100 from Oct. 1, 2025 to Sept. 30, with county match of $3,620.

• The 2025/26 Medical Assistance Transportation Program (MATP) second quarter report in the amount of $117,905.15.

• Ratify signing the 2025-2026 Emergency Solutions Grant contract for $232,500 from Dec. 18, 2025, to June 30, 2027.

• Use Opioid Grant of $2,500 from the Opioid Settlement Funds consistent with the uses allowed under the Opioid Settlement Agreement — Memorandum of Understanding and Agreement with We Have a Choice Recovery House for Men LLC (Justin’s House) for transportation assistance.

The commissioners also approved the following contracts for services and funding:

• Sign the 2026 Mosquito-borne Disease Control Contract in the amount of $141,676 from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31.

• Sign the Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Intermediate Punishment Contract, for $90,000 from July 1, 2025, to June 30.

• Payment of $45,000 to the West End Fair from the hotel tax fund for the 2026 three-day July 4 Celebration/All-American Picnic.

Additional items that were approved include:

• Request from Scouting America, Minsi Trails Council to use Courthouse Square at 4:45 p.m. on March 12 to hold a flag-raising ceremony. This is contingent on the receipt of current certificate of insurance.

• Nominate Chris Barrett and Debra Raneri to the Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance (NEPA) board of directors with new terms to expire June 30, 2028.

• Advertise the rescheduled Board of Prison Inspectors meeting of March 10 to March 13 at 8 a.m.
