LVHN Colleague of the month
Brian McElmoyle, DPT
Specialty: Outpatient rehabilitation
Location: LVHN Rehabilitation Services–Carbon, 2226 Blakeslee Blvd. Drive East, Suite 130, Lehighton
Philosophy of Care: Brian McElmoyle doesn’t only hold a doctorate in physical therapy, making him an expert in movement; he’s skilled in the delivery of patient care too.
“I treat every patient as a unique individual and work to achieve their specific rehabilitation goals by providing compassionate care,” McElmoyle says.
He pays attention to each patient’s concerns as he helps them recover from injury or surgery and manage chronic conditions.
Services offered: McElmoyle and his colleagues at the rehabilitation center offer physical therapy, occupational therapy, orthopedics, hand therapy, fall prevention and spine care. Lymphedema therapy will join the service offerings at this location in March.
Conditions treated: LVHN Rehabilitation Services–Carbon treats post-surgical patients and provides care for orthopedic injuries, sports medicine, balance issues, muscle and joint pain and pelvic health, including urinary incontinence.
Why he chose medicine as a career: McElmoyle’s personal experience as a physical therapy patient led him toward a health care career.
“The therapists who worked with me really helped me overcome many hurdles to help me achieve my functional goals. Realizing the impact these therapists had on my life, I chose a career in physical therapy hoping to impact others the same way,” McElmoyle says.
About Brian McElmoyle: Brian McElmoyle is grateful that LVHN Rehabilitation Services–Carbon provides him with the rewarding opportunity to provide care in the community where he grew up.
In his free time, he likes to take advantage of the outdoor activities the area offers such as biking, hiking and kayaking with friends and family.
