Gabriel Chamber Ensemble hosts concert Sunday

The Gabriel Chamber Ensemble invites the community to an afternoon of expressive, Romantic-inspired chamber music at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22, at Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 252 Dock St., Schuylkill Haven.

The concert, titled “Heartstrings of the Romantic,” features music by Johannes Brahms, Kenji Bunch, and George Rochberg, offering audiences a vibrant blend of cherished Romantic repertoire and modern works rooted in emotional depth and lyricism.

For more than three decades, the ensemble has brought world-class chamber music to Schuylkill County, fulfilling its mission of artistic excellence and community enrichment. This program reflects the ensemble’s hallmark blend of warmth, virtuosity, and thoughtful musical storytelling.

“We are delighted to present a program that highlights the emotional richness shared by composers from different musical traditions,” said Sara Male, executive director of the Gabriel Chamber Ensemble. “Brahms’ lush Romantic voice, paired with the color and modern expressiveness of Bunch and Rochberg, creates a truly engaging experience for our audience.”

This event is made possible in part through a grant from the Schuylkill Area Community Foundation, supporting GCE’s continued commitment to bringing exceptional chamber music to the region.

Additional support for the Ensemble is provided by Pennsylvania Creative Industries, powered by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Gabriel Chamber Ensemble is dedicated to preserving, promoting, and presenting chamber music in Schuylkill County and beyond. Through concerts, community programming, and educational outreach, GCE provides high-level performances that inspire audiences and support the cultural life of the region.
