State police at Bethlehem - crashes
State police at he Bethlehem barracks reported the following crashes:
• Police said Robert Fox, 55, of Laurys Station, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a one-vehicle crash at 10:53 p.m. Feb. 3 at the intersection of the Beth Bath Pike and School Road in East Allen Township.
He was driving a 2021 Kia Soul. Police said he was administered standardized field sobriety tests at the scene and was taken into custody.
• Nahaman E. Alvarez, 32, and Jayden R. Mendoza, 19, both of Allentown, were transported by personnel from the Northampton Regional EMS Corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest Campus, Salisbury Township, after a one-vehicle crash at 6:46 p.m. Feb. 8 on Lowhill Road, Heidelberg Township.
Police said Alvarez, who was a passenger in the vehicle driven by Mendoza, had injuries of unknown severity. They said Mendoza was transported to the hospital for an evaluation.
They said the 2009 Mercury Milan in which they were occupants lost traction on the road, which was covered in snow/slush from a snowdrift. The car traveled off the roadway and hit the west side of a barn.
• Police said DeSean A. Kosalko, 19, of Coaldale, sustained a head injury in a two-vehicle crash at 4:53 p.m. Feb. 7 on Willowbrook Road, Allen Township.
The severity of his injuries is unknown, police said. He was transported by personnel from the Northampton Regional EMS Corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg Campus, Bethlehem.
Police said Kosalko was a passenger in a 2025 Hyundai Sonata driven by Thomas J. Buyce, 20, of Summit Hill, that was struck by a 2024 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Andre M. Wilkerson, 38, of Northampton, who police said proceeded into the intersection with Savage Road without having clearance.
Wilkerson was cited after the crash, according to police.
He and Buyce were uninjured.
• No one was hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 8:52 a.m. Feb. 9 at the intersection of Route 309 and the Northwestern Lehigh High School property in Lynn Township.
Police said the crash occurred as Melanie R. Schantz, 57, of Coaldale, was driving a 2014 Subaru Crosstrek northbound when she failed to slow down while another northbound vehicle, a 2025 Toyota RAV4 driven by Laura Ferreira, 57, of Bethlehem, was completing a right turn.
Police said the Crosstrek hit the RAV4, causing disabling damage to both vehicles that required them to be towed from the scene.
Schantz was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, according to police.
• Police were called to a hit-and-run at that occurred during the evening hours of Jan. 21 on Bottom Road, Washington Township.
They said a vehicle traveled out of control and struck a mailbox and driveway embankment at a private property before leaving the scene.
• Myra J. Reyes, 65, of Bath, was injured after a two-vehicle crash at 2:46 p.m. Feb. 9 on South Walnut Street, Bath.
Police said she was transported by personnel from the Bethlehem Township Volunteer Fire Company to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus, Easton.
They said the crash occurred when Avery P. Moyer, 24, of Palmerton, was driving a 2017 Chevrolet 2500 northbound when she negotiated a left turn onto Mill Street too sharply and the vehicle hit a 2016 Kia Rio operated by Reyes.
Police said the Chevrolet was damaged but able to be driven, while the Rio was towed from the scene.
Reyes, who was uninjured, was cited after the crash, according to police.
