Two empty spots on Coaldale Borough Council were filled at council’s recent monthly meeting.
John Cray and former Councilman Jacob Adamitis were appointed to the seats vacated by former council President Claire Remington and Councilwoman Kim Gavornik.
Remington resigned at council’s December meeting, while Gavornik’s resignation came at this month’s meeting.
Gavornik is leaving council to serve as borough tax collector. She had announced her intent to resign at the January reorganization meeting but said she would serve until February to ensure a smooth transition for newly elected members.
Borough Mayor Daniel Weiksner administered oaths of office to both men at the end of the council meeting.
Also during the meeting, council appointed Kim Bortnick as borough secretary.
Council tabled a motion to appoint a new solicitor. Attorney Robert Yurchak will step down from the position.
