Lansford Borough Council approves items

Lansford Borough Council on Wednesday acted on the following agenda items:

• Approved a resolution regarding approving purchases from committee chairmen. Councilman Joe Butrie was opposed.

• Referred a discussion regarding hiring attorney Michael Miller of Eckert Seamans to represent council members Michele Bartek, Bruce Markovich and Gwyneth Collevechio in a federal lawsuit filed against the borough to executive session.

The council members were not named in the suit but were seated when the suit was filed.

Council took no action on the matter following the executive session Wednesday night before adjourning its meeting, Vice President Joe Genits said afterward. An update on the suit was provided to council, he said.

• Approved handicapped parking requests for Ibania Alberto, Denice Danubio, Crystal Cupak and Eileen Royer after debating if street parking was adequate on one request.

• Approved a change in phone service from Verizon at $530.55 a month for borough employees to AT&T at $458.52 a month with a one-time $414.81 equipment charge. The plan includes 10 cellphones, five portable Wi-Fi devices and four iPads.

• Approved Cloud Services to upgrade hard drives on three police department computers at a cost of $464.97.

• Approved the purchase of five portable radios for the police department from Green Communications at a cost of $33,879.55. Railroad funds from the county will be used for the purchase and the balance will come from the General Fund.

• Approved a $325 bill from Ruthless Graphics for graphics on the new Ford F-550 dump truck.

• Approved paying $650 to B&V Environmental Service Inc. to perform an asbestos inspection of the vacant property at 316 W. Patterson St. It was inspected as a demolition condition.

• Approved transferring the 2024 Community Development Block Grant funds from 118 W. Ridge St. demolition to the West Ridge Street paving project for 2026. The funding amount is approximately $77,800.

• Approved the code enforcement officer participating in a municipal code webinar at a cost of $45, if not included in the borough’s state membership, and for new and interested council members and mayor to enroll in the PSAB’s boot camp for newly elected officials.

• Paid bills of $231,215.83 when funds become available.
