Baker Ben has a new home in Palmerton.

Baker Ben’s Bakery held its first day of business on Feb. 7 at its new location at 656 Delaware Ave.

The bakery was filled with customers, new and old, checking out the sweet choices filling the display cases.

Doughnuts, such as glazed, jelly filled, white with coconut, chocolate with coconut, lemon-filled and chocolate glazed, were available.

And the muffin selection included chocolate cream cheese, strawberry and apple.

Plus there were bagels, cream rolls, apple fritters and cakes. More items will be added as the bakery continues to grow.

The bakery originally opened in 2023 in Walnutport but it needed to be relocated due to some issues with the property.

The new Palmerton location took longer than expected to open because an iron sewer line needed to be fixed in addition to the planned renovations and updates to the HVAC system that were performed.

All that is done now, with the bakery passing all inspections and opening at 8 a.m. Feb. 7.

“We’re supposed to be open until 3 p.m.,” owner Ben Steitz said. “But, by the looks of things, we could run out before then.”

The new hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. The bakery is closed Sundays and Mondays.

“Business is good,” Steitz said. “It’s good to open again and back in business.”
