Towamensing picking up Parryville trash
Towamensing Township supervisors has signed an intermunicipal agreement to collect Parryville’s garbage, as they don’t have their own garbage collection.
Six thousand pounds were picked up on the first collection day.
A discussion was held about possibly collecting commercial garbage in other townships. No decisions were made at this time.
The township approved the purchase of a new garbage truck.
The chassis of the truck comes in at a cost of $167,035 and the body of the truck at $139,000. The chassis will arrive in June or July at which point an order will go in for the truck to be built.
The supervisors approved a Neffs National Bank credit card with a limit of $15,000. The decision was made to get a new card that allows for flexible users as the old card still has the names of former employees and board members.
In old business, the mileage rate was changed from $. 70 per mile to 72.5 cents per mile as that is the recommended rate.
A $150,000 greenways, trails and recreation grant was received, which will be used at the park to update the ball field, upgrade the parking lot and cameras at the park.
In some personnel changes, Jeff Schnaiter was appointed to the vacancy on the planning commission. Kendell Chin was sworn in as a fire policeman. Kevin Austin was sworn in as the alternate tax collector.
Road crew employee #3 was dismissed, and road crew employee #4 resigned this week. No further information was given.
