State police at Frackville - crashes
State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following crashes:
• No one was injured in a crash at 5:01 p.m. Jan. 24 in one of the fueling areas of the Turkey Hill convenience store, Claremont Avenue, Rush Township (Hometown).
Police said a 2021 Kia Seltos backed into a 2008 Toyota Highlander whose operator had been Steven A. Prince, 77, of Canadensis, resulting in minor damage to the latter vehicle.
The driver of the Kia left the scene.
• The driver of a 2023 Toyota Corolla that was involved in a crash at 6:50 a.m. Jan. 28 on River Road, East Brunswick Township, was cited afterward, police said.
Police said the driver, whom they did not identify, applied his brakes at a stop sign on Red Dale Road but the car did not stop, crossing Route 895 onto River Road and traveling down an embankment, hitting a PennDOT sign and a split rail fence.
The car was towed from the scene.
• No one was injured in a three-vehicle crash at 5:19 p.m. Jan. 29 on Skyline Drive, New Castle Township.
Police said the crash occurred when Lindsay J. Laubach, 42, of Frackville, was driving a 2013 Nissan Rogue that failed to yield to stopped traffic. The Rogue struck the rear of a 2016 Jeep Wrangler driven by Paul W. Rollenhagen, 51, of Ashland, pushing it into a 2017 Hyundai Elantra operated by a 17-year-old girl from New Boston.
Police said the Rogue was towed from the scene, while the Wrangler and Elantra were able to be driven away.
Laubach was cited for following too closely, according to police.
• Najja N. Williams, 49, of Harrisburg, had suspected minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 25 on State Road, Ryan Township.
Police said she was transported by personnel from the Ryan Township Emergency & Rescue Squad to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-East, Pottsville.
They said she was driving a 2024 Chevrolet Trax eastbound in snowy conditions when she lost control of it, traveled off the north side of the road and hit a utility pole. The vehicle had disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
Williams was cited after the crash, according to police.
• Landon J. Mattern, 19, of Tamaqua, had minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 8:46 p.m. Jan. 30 on Valley Street in New Philadelphia.
Police said he did not require an emergency medical services transport from the scene.
They said he was driving a 2014 Ford Focus eastbound when it traveled off the roadway and hit a guide rail.
The car was towed from the scene.
Mattern was cited after the crash, according to police.
