Three Carbon dogs running for ‘America’s Favorite Pet’

Another Carbon County dog is competing to become “America’s Favorite Pet.”

Quigley is a retriever mix owned by Vicki Hastings. He has been entered in Colossal’s America Favorite Pet Competition.

“My boyfriend and I adopted (him) from S.O.A.R. in May 2025. He was found as a single stray in Alabama, and thanks to the rescue he found his forever home with us.”

He is about a year old now and has been a blessing for the couple.

“He has a lively spirit, is full of energy and has a love of the outdoors. He loves to play, gets the zoomies often, and will never say no to a treat! He is a very friendly boy, no such thing as a stranger to Quigley,” Hastings said.

Hastings works at the Radical Wine Company, a Lehighton winery that donates a portion of its wine sales to help support local animal shelters, so the contest falls in line with her and her employer’s beliefs.

“I’m a firm believer that rescue animals are some of the best furry friends you could ever have,” she said. “Quigley is our best buddy and our living proof rescue is the way to go.”

Other dogs in the running in other groups include Chief, a Bernedoodle owned by Tyler and Allyson Schlier of Nesquehoning, and Mickey Disney, owned by former Bowmanstown resident TJ Engle.

Both Chief and Quigley currently sit in third place in their group; while Mickey is in second.
