Polk supervisors solidify snow policy

It was a brief board for the supervisors meeting in Polk Township on Thursday.

A snow policy was presented that if it snows on a recycling day, the recycling center will be closed. Those with permits are allowed to bring their garbage to the Solid Waste and Recycling Center.

The Fire Department report for November there were 18 emergencies, 184 hours of training and 68 hours of fundraising.

They responded to 25 emergencies in December, completed 106 hours of training and participated in 145 hours of fundraising.

In 2025, emergency responses were up by 12, with a total of 244 for the year. Training hours increased by 230 hours from 2024, with a total of 2,072 hours of training in 2025. And fundraising hours were down by 533 hours with a total of 1,607 for 2025.

The Monroe County hazard mitigation plan was approved.

And the Polk Township Parks and Recreation Commission will begin setting events for the year at their meeting next week.

Concerning zoning, there will be a hearing at 6 p.m. on Feb. 23 for a zoning change request from R-1 to R-3 on Weir Mountain Road.

And on April 23, the Zoning Task Force will hold a class on drones at Monroe County Emergency Management Services in Stroudsburg.
