The Northwestern girls stretched their winning streak to nine games on Monday, while the Pleasant Valley girls ended their season with a win over East Stroudsburg South.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Pleasant Vy.-ES South
Sebastian Sacci scored 10 of his team-high 19 points in a 29-point fourth quarter, but Pleasant Valley’s rally fell short in a 61-53 EPC loss to East Stroudsburg South.
Jake Loch, who added 14 points, had eight of those in the final quarter. The Bears, who ended their season, trailed 38-24 after three quarters.
The Cavaliers’ Marcel Stapler had nine of his team-high 17 points in their 23-point fourth quarter. South converted on 22 of 34 free throws.

N’western-Jim Thorpe
Northwestern stretched its winning streak to nine games, as the Tigers used a solid second quarter to pull away for a 52-24 Colonial League victory over Jim Thorpe.
The Olympians trailed just 14-10 after the first frame, but Northwestern outscored the hosts 18-6 in the second to take a 16-point halftime advantage.
Hannah Gober netted seven of her nine points in the second for the Tigers.
NW’s Natalie Conner led all scorers with 20 points – 13 of them coming in the first half.
Ciara Lees finished with a team-high nine points for Thorpe.

PV’s Noelle Wolff scored a game-high 15 points, which included a 10-of-11 effort from the free-throw line.
The Bears’ Amaya Fuentes added 11 points, while Kylie Fuentes finished with 10.
Brianna Rasmussen paced the Cavaliers with 11 points.

North Schuylkill clinched the second seed in the Schuylkill League Division 1 standings by rolling to a 51-28 victory over Tamaqua.
Mya Conti scored a game-high 27 points for the Spartans, who raced to a 15-point halftime lead.
The winners also received 12 points from Monica Selgrade.
For the Blue Raiders, who finished as the third seed, Lauren Ligenza netted a team-high 11 points while Millie Black collected 14 rebounds.

Pottsville outscored Panther Valley in the fourth quarter to earn a 48-42 Schuylkill League victory.
The two teams were tied after three frames, but Jo Barnhart scored seven of her team-high 15 points in the final period to help the Tide pull out the victory.
Morgan Orsulak finished with a double-double for the Panthers, scoring 22 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. PV, which shot well (17-of-22) from the free-throw line, also received 13 points from Caroline Breslin.
