The Pleasant Valley boys basketball team surged past Stroudsburg in overtime Friday.

Elsewhere, the Lehighton and Pleasant Valley girls wrestling teams took part in a tri-match at Tamaqua. The Northern Lehigh and Tamaqua girls basketball teams also picked up wins.

GIRLS WRESTLING

Lehighton-Tamaqua

Lehighton used its depth and a string of forfeits to secure a decisive 55-12 victory over Tamaqua.

The Indians received eight wins by forfeit and added key victories on the mat to pull away. Blayr Strawser earned a 7-1 decision at 130 pounds, while Alivia Reed posted a 13-3 major decision at 170.

Tamaqua’s points came from pins by Kiely Kunkel at 112 and Jalissa Correa at 124.

Pleasant Valley capitalized on forfeits and key pins to earn a 42-18 victory over Tamaqua. The Bears received six wins by forfeit and added a pair of falls on the mat. Stroudsburg-Pleasant Valley

Pleasant Valley rallied for a 62-60 win overtime win against Stroudsburg in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference play.

Jake Loch scored six points from the free throw line to cap a perfect 12-for-12 night from the charity stripe and finished with a game-high 23 points for the Bears, who outscored the Mounties 15-10 in the fourth quarter to force OT. Sebastian Sacci added 19 points, while Marcelus Solt hit four of the Bears nine threes and scored 14 points.

Tarik El-Bassiouni and Josh Ivers-Green each scored 14 points for Stroudsburg. Jarel Jackson added 10 points.

A big fourth quarter carried Stroudsburg to a 30-27 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Pleasant Valley.

Teagan Strunk scored nine of her game-high 16 points in the fourth period for the Mounties, who trailed 25-17.

Kylie Fuentes had 10 points for the Bears, while Amaya Fuentes added nine.

Northern Lehigh pulled away from Jim Thorpe to claim a 38-26 Colonial League victory.

Jaylene Ramos (13) and Tegan Simms (11) each scored in double figures for the Bulldogs, who outscored the Olympians 31-14 after the first quarter. Kylee Snyder added nine points for the winners.

Olivia Snisky hit five threes and paced the Olympians with 15 points, while Brooklyn Yuhas added nine.

Tamaqua-Minersville

Tamaqua put together a balanced effort on both ends of the floor to earn a 46-22 Schuylkill League victory over Minersville.

Millie Black powered the Blue Raiders with a game-high 20 points, while Leah Black added 11. The duo also made a major impact defensively and on the glass, as Millie Black collected eight rebounds and eight steals, and Leah Black finished with nine rebounds and five steals.

Tamaqua built control early, taking a 13-4 lead after one quarter, and continued to extend the margin throughout.

Jenna Cullen led Minersville with 15 points.

Tamaqua also won the JV game, 39-11. Elaina Coleman scored 13 points and Naomi Knitter added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Raiders.

In the Minersville Bedford Memorial Tournament, the host Battlin’ Miners edged Panther Valley 44-38.

Noah Seifert led the Panthers with eight points, while Kale Koerbler and Yaasir Jackson each added six.

The Battlin’ Miners’ Simms led all scorers with 26 points.

Panther Valley-Tamaqua

Tamaqua pulled away from Panther Valley for a 48-25 victory.

Chayse Smith led the winners with 13 points while Chayse Barron and Cain Conner both added nine.

The Panthers were led by Mason McDonald’s 13 points.

North Schuylkill downed Panther Valley by a 33-25 score.

Yaasir Jackson topped the Panthers with 12 points, while the Spartans’ Quick also finished with 12 points.

Cooper Lynn scored a game-high 10 points for the Panthers, while Davis topped the Tide with eight.

Panther Vy.-N. Schuylkill

North Schuylkill defeated Panther Valley 52-30 in the Minersville Bedford Memorial Tournament.

Yassir Jackson paced the Panthers with seven points, while Isaac Schoenberger tallied six.

The Spartans’ Incarnacion led all scorers with 18 points.

Tamaqua posted a 42-14 victory over Panther Valley.
