Cause of L. Tow fire undetermined

The cause of a fire that decimated an abandoned house last week in Lower Towamensing Township remains unclear.

Aquashicola Fire Chief Bill George said the incident will not be investigated further and the cause will be listed as undetermined.

George said firefighters were dispatched at 5:36 p.m. Jan. 21 to the home along Stoney Brooke Lane and Forest Inn Road.

Upon arrival, George said firefighters found the fire to be fully involved through the roof.

George said the home is a total loss. There were no injuries.

He said it took firefighters about 90 minutes to bring the fire under control.

George said at that time the cause of the fire was undetermined, and added the incident was being investigated by a state police fire marshal.

He said firefighters remained on scene for about two and a half hours.

George said also assisting at the scene were the Bowmanstown Fire Department, Palmerton Fire Department, Trachsville Fire Department, Franklin Township Fire Department, Polk Township Fire Department and Palmerton Ambulance.

He stressed that firefighters had to deal with “very adverse working conditions” because of the weather.

George added that the firefighters who responded cooperated and worked as a team.
