Palmerton Borough Council took the following action on Thursday:

• Appointed Jason Behler as chief, and Shawn Rios assistant chief, of the Palmerton Municipal Fire Department.

• Appointed Jan Ahner and a junior member to Palmerton Municipal Fire Department membership.

• On a 5-0 vote, with one abstention, approved the Palmerton Municipal Fire Department membership. Councilwoman Holly Hausman Sell abstained from the vote.

• Approved the Palmerton Municipal Fire Company, Aquashicola Fire Company and Bowmanstown Fire Company volunteer tax credit eligibility lists.

• On a 5-0 vote, with one abstention, appointed council President Terry Costenbader to the Pennsylvania Municipal Fire Department Support Team board of directors. Costenbader abstained.

• Approved the appointment of a tax collector for the balance of 2025 per capita taxes at a total of $8,338.

• Approved the 2025 per capita tax exoneration list in the amount of $300.

• Named borough Manager Autumn Canfield as the additional signer for transactions for the uniformed pension plan.

• Approved changing borough council’s regular meeting date in November to Nov. 19.
