The Pennsylvania State Police sent officers to Pleasant Valley High School Friday morning after receiving an alert through the Safe2Say app.
According to a press release from the police, the Pennsylvania State Police, Troop N Fern Ridge, Criminal Investigation Unit was notified that two unknown and unnamed students were “possibly bringing weapons to the Pleasant Valley High School. There was no direct threat of violence.”
As a result, Troop N officers are present at the school to ensure the safety of students and staff. Additional security measures also have been taken including metal detectors.
“The Pennsylvania State Police would like parents/guardians and neighboring community members to know that these incidents are taken extremely seriously, and although there is a large police presence, the school is safe and secure,” the release stated.
The police said they are conducting an investigation and information that will not jeopardize the integrity of the investigation will be released.
The district did not comment as of press time.
