11 teachers to retire from PleasantValley

When the 2025-26 school year comes to an end, Pleasant Valley School District will say goodbye to 11 teachers who have announced their intention to retire after this year. Also retiring are a paraprofessional and a food service employee.

School Board President Sue Kresge said at the end of their meeting on Thursday night, “We wish them well.”

The staff who announced their upcoming retirements include: Barbara Partyka, food service, PVES, effective Jan. 1; Glenda Martini, Health Room technician, PVHS, effective Jan. 5; PVIS: Todd Urland and Lisa Williams, both teachers, and John Devivo, Music/Band teacher; PVMS: Linda Stephens, Health Room technician; Amy Hetherington, math teacher; and Susan Geiger, Social Studies; PVHS: Brent Lewis, Social Studies teacher; Maria Brant, Spanish; Stephen Caffrey, learning support; Andrew Witinski, physics; and Sharon Graver, paraprofessional, all effective at the end of the school year.

The Pleasant Valley School Board also approved several personnel items during their meeting. These include:

• Hiring of professional staff — Aubrey Sawyer, grade 6 English Language Arts, $60,642, effective Jan. 12, replaced Roberta McMaster, who retired.

• Hiring of support staff — Amanda Ferrari, food service employee, PVIS, $13.47 per hour, effective Jan. 23, replaced Chandra Gonzalez (changed assignment); David Iandoli, custodian, PVHS, $19.69 per hour (45 cents per hour shift differential), effective Jan. 6, replaced Avery Cabral (change of assignment); Bekka Haidle, building secretary, PVMS, $34,446, effective Jan. 5, replaced Rhonda Beers; Ailyn Gutierrez, paraprofessional, PVMS, $27,586, effective Jan. 20, replaced Kyra Unterberg; and Malgorzata Kaminska (correction), custodian, PVIS.

• Homebound instructor — supplemental — Jodi Kresge — homebound instructor for 2025-26 school year at $30 per hour.

• Intramural advisers — Tara Hyland, girls soccer.

• Rescind hiring — David Iandoli, security officer, district wide, accepted another position within PVSD.

• Resignations — effective Dec. 5; Kelly McElmoyle, third-grade teacher, PVIS, on or before Feb. 6; and Kayla Lindsay, building secretary, PVIS, Jan. 14.

• Supplemental contracts: athletic non-coaching — Spring: Brent Dorshimer, James Igoe, Jennifer O’Keefe, Diane DeBarry and Joe Bush, varsity, junior varsity, middle school, $45, $41 and $36 respectively; Winter: James Igoe, varsity, junior varsity, middle school, $45, $41 and $36 respectively.

• Supplemental contracts: non-athletic — STREAM K-5, Sean Crosby and Christianna Johnson, co-advisers, revised split stipend, Crosby — $1,856.52 and Johnson — $943.48; PVHS National Honor Society, Amber Chiafulio and Ariella Mease, co-advisers, corrected stipend $2,310; PVMS Art Club, Melinda Benson, adviser, corrected stipend $650.

• Volunteers — Alexia Polazzo, Taryn Weber and Krystallynn McCutchan.
