State police at Lehighton - crashes
State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following crashes:
• Jialin Li, 43, of Oakland Gardens, New York, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed following a crash at 7:55 p.m. Jan. 18 on the Little Gap Road, Lower Towamensing Township. She was uninjured in the crash.
Police said she was driving a 2022 Tesla eastbound when due to snowy and icy conditions the car traveled off the roadway and hit a utility pole. The car was towed from the scene.
• No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 10:19 a.m. Jan. 17 on Long Mountain Road, Polk Township.
Police did not identify the driver of the 2016 Subaru Legacy that was southbound in snow and ice conditions. They said the car traveled off the road and slid into the woods.
It had minor damage, but was towed from the scene because it was stuck in vegetation.
• Damage was minor in a crash at 11:42 a.m. Jan. 17 at the intersection of Scenic Drive and Dotters Corner Road, Polk Township. Police did not identify the drivers of the vehicles.
They said a 2014 Honda CRV traveling east on Dotters Corner Road took a wide turn while entering the intersection, striking a 2010 Honda Accord. Police said the driver of the CRV was cited after the crash.
• A 24-year-old woman from Kunkletown is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol following a one-vehicle crash at 3:01 a.m. Jan. 19 on Dotters Corner Road, Polk Township.
Police said she was driving a 2018 Subaru Impreza southbound when she lost control of it and the car traveled off the left side of the road, where is struck a shrub and tree stump before coming to rest in a snow-covered wooded area.
• Tia Rodriguez, 22, of Albrightsville, was cited after a one-vehicle crash at 6:56 a.m. Jan. 17 on Route 115 in Ross Township. She was uninjured in the incident.
Police said she was driving a 2018 Toyota Corolla southbound when she lost control of it. The car slid off the road and struck a tree. It was towed from the scene.
• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 8:36 a.m. Jan. 17 on Mauch Chunk Street (Route 209) in Mahoning Township. Police said Jordan M. Haley, 20, of Lehighton, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox that slid into the intersection with Beaver Street and was struck by a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 operated by James L. Dennis, 64, of Jim Thorpe. They said both vehicles then struck the guide rail and were towed from the scene.
