$5K reward for clues leading to arrest in Carbon cold case

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information that solves a 20-plus-year murder case in Lower Towamensing Township.

The Pennsylvania State Police Troop N — Lehighton Barracks continue their investigation on the murder of 45-year-old Amandus Balliet that occurred on Wintergreen Road.

Balliet, who lived alone, was stabbed and killed in his rented mobile home between 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 12, 2004.

According to news reports at the time, Balliet, a double amputee who lived alone, was involved in drugs and had a long criminal record.

All callers to PSP Tips could be eligible for a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest, the solving of a crime/cold case or the location of a wanted person/fugitive or missing person.

All unsolved cases have a reward offered for information that solves the case. Tip money is not paid by taxpayers and comes from asset forfeiture funds.
