A woman had to be rescued Monday afternoon when involved in a crash in West Penn Township. The crash occurred just before 1 p.m. as she was traveling east on Route 443 just east of Mantzville Road.

She apparently lost control with her SUV with it coming to rest on its side.

West Penn police, firemen and passersby worked to remove the windshield to free the driver.

The victim was treated at the scene by members of the Penn Mahoning ambulance and Lehighton paramedics.

West Penn Township police are investigating the incident.
