The Schuylkill/Carbon Marine Corps League announced this year’s Toys for Tots drive was a “great success.”
Ed Glassic, senior vice commander, said a little more than $5,000 was raised in this year’s drive, with the funds being used for the purchase of brand new toys for needy children.
In Lehighton, he said, 372 children and 154 families received new and used toys, while in Nesquehoning, 147 children from 50 families were served. In Tamaqua, 288 children from 114 families received the gifts.
Glassic said a grand total of 1,003 area children from 389 families were beneficiaries of the drive.
