State police at Bethlehem

State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following incidents:

• A 25-year-old man from Palmerton who is employed at KidsPeace, North Whitehall Township, is the victim of a harassment incident reported at 4:04 a.m. Jan. 11 at the facility.

They said a 13-year-old boy from Sunbury who slapped the 25-year-old in the face was cited for harassment by physical contact after the incident.

• A 43-year-old woman from Lehighton was cited for retail theft (shoplifting) after police were called to the Dollar General store, Church Street, Washington Township, at 4:59 p.m. Dec. 3.

Police said she was observed concealing merchandise underneath her clothing and preparing to leave.

She was found to be in possession of $107.31 worth of merchandise.

• A man and woman from Slatington, both 64, are the victims in a bad checks case.

Police were called to a home on Mountain Road, Washington Township, at 3:01 p.m. Dec. 3 for a report of a check that was fraudulently used bearing the victims’ biographical and account information.

Police said the investigation revealed someone used a fake identification to withdraw $4,550 from the victims’ account after presenting a fraudulent check to a Truist Bank teller.

• Police are investigating the theft of two mailboxes on Ventura Drive, Washington Township.

A 73-year-old man and a 77-year-old man, both from Slatington, reported the boxes, worth $100 and $120, respectively, were stolen between the evening hours of Nov. 27 and the morning hours of Nov. 28.

A 2013 Hyundai Elantra was involved in the incidents and possibly struck the wooden posts that held the mailboxes, which were within a mile of each other.

• Police said they were alerted to a theft reported on Rising Sun Road, North Whitehall Township.

A 63-year-old Slatington man told police that $381.11 was stolen from his Truist Bank account.

• Tyrone Straite, 38, of Pottstown, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after police made a traffic stop at 2:09 a.m. Dec. 20.

He was stopped in a 2021 Nissan Sentra for Title 75 violations in the 2900 block of Airport Road, Bethlehem, where police said they found him to be in an intoxicated/impaired state.

• Lisa Marsh, 62, of New Tripoli, was cited for retail theft (shoplifting) after police were called to the Weis Market, Route 873, North Whitehall Township, at 6:12 p.m. Dec. 3.

Police said she attempted to steal $650 worth of merchandise.

• Giacinta Barndt, 25, of Quakertown, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after police were dispatched to Route 309, North Whitehall Township, at 4:44 p.m. Nov. 22 to check on the welfare of a woman parked in her car along the highway.

Police said it was determined Barndt drove her 2011 Volkswagen Jetta to the scene, where she was taken into custody.

• Larry Loch, 69, of Slatedale, was cited for simple assault/harassment after police were called to Brown Street, Washington Township, at 3:23 p.m. Dec. 28.

Police said he physically assaulted Jerry Wertman, 69, of Slatington, during a dispute over hunting equipment.

• A 24-year-old Nesquehoning woman is facing drug possession charges after police responded to an incident at 8:37 p.m. Oct. 5 on East Main Street in Bath.

Police said she was found to be in possession of marijuana when they located a suspicious vehicle, a 2016 Chrysler.
