Spelling bee winners at St. Jerome school

St. Jerome Regional School announced the winners of its Scripps Spelling Bee, who will advance to the NEPA MAEC Regional Spelling Bee.

Wyatt Morris, a sixth-grade student, was named champion, and Gavin Woodring, an eighth-grade student, earned the runner-up position.

Both students will represent St. Jerome at the regional competition on March 7 at 9 a.m. The NEPA MAEC Regional Spelling Bee will be held at D.H.H. Lengel Middle School, located at 1541 Laurel Blvd., Pottsville. Top finishers at the regional level advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee, held this May in Washington, D.C.

The school spelling bee was moderated by Jocelyn Morris and judged by Alice Miller and Laurie Daukshus.
