Local Roundup: Results from Jan. 13

Northern Lehigh’s Kellen Bauer reached the 1,000-point mark in his career on Tuesday, however the Bulldogs dropped their game to Catasauqua.

The Lehighton girls won again to remained undefeated, while Northwestern and Palmerton each posted Colonial League victories.

The Blue Bomber girls wrestling squad also triumphed in their match, and Tamaqua’s swim teams swept Schuylkill Haven.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Jim Thorpe-Northwestern

In Colonial League action, Northwestern cruised to a 65-19 win over visiting Jim Thorpe.

The Tigers held the Olympians to just seven points over the final three quarters.

Northwestern’s’ Natalie Conner led all scorers with 17 points, while Olivia Reinhart contributed 11.

Brooklyn Yuhas scored a team-high seven points for the Olympians.

Lehighton snapped Saucon Valley’s four-game winning streak, as the Indians remained unbeaten with a 41-29 victory.

Olivia Serfass posted nine of her game-high 12 points in the first half, as the Indians took a six-point lead into halftime.

Leah Uyvari posted nine of her double-figure 11 points after the break, while Ryleigh Trotman also chipped in with 11.

Sierra Skode paced the Panthers with a team-high 10 points.

Northern Lehigh started off strong, but Catasauqua stole the momentum to pull away for a 47-33 Colonial League win.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 15-9 lead after a quarter of play thanks to eight points from Tegan Simms.

But the Roughies’ Hailey Jenkins caught fire in the second, as she posted 12 of her game-high 20 points right before halftime.

Teammate Kaylin Stewart sparked the winners in the second half with 12 of her 16 points after intermission.

Ella Tosh had nine points on three three-pointers in the second half, while Simms also finished with nine.

Palmerton connected on 10 three-pointers to help produce a 52-5 Colonial League victory over visiting Palisades.

The Bombers’ duo of Hailey and Avery Barry accounted for nine of those treys, as Hailey drained a season-high six and Avery added three.

Hailey Barry finished with a game and season-high 25 points, while Avery Barry ended with nine. Emma Rex also contributed nine points to the winning cause.

The Indians’ Blake Roberts finished with 25 points to lead all scorers. Aiden Solt and Cole Dietz both chipped in with 10.

Frankie Pujols paced Catty with 18 points, while Aalani Nix added 17.

Nolehi received a team-high 17 points from Chayce LoPinto. Michael Bauer chipped in with 12.

Starting at 118, the Bombers picked up four pins and a forfeit win, with the fastest pin coming from Nickayla Tomsic (142) in only 23 seconds.

Palmerton finished with seven pins. The others came from Sofia Amorim (106), Izabella McFarland (118), Cassidy Merkel (124), Lea Schaible (136), Abigail Baker (170) and Nicole Jennings (235).

The Blue Raiders edged the Hurricanes 72-69 in the boys competition, while the Tamaqua girls cruised to a 99-58 victory.

Thomas Graham (50 free, 100 free), Savannah Wilson (200 IM, 100 breaststroke) and Kate Behun (500 free, 100 backstroke) all posted multiple individual firsts.

The Raiders’ Brandon Temarantz (200 IM), Billy Coombe (500 free), William Behun (100 backstroke), Janna Brown (200 free) and Gia Clemson (diving) each added an individual win.

In Schuylkill League action, Marian and Mahanoy Area ended with a split.

The Colts posted a 54-14 victory, while the Golden Bears gained a 68-30 win over the Fillies.

Andrew Metters (200 free, 100 breast) and Reece Steibler (200 IM, 100 free) both had multiple firsts for the Colts, while the two also swam a leg in both the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relay events.

Ella Bones (200 IM) and Kasey Evert (500 free) posted individual wins for the Fillies.
