The proposed Tamaqua Bungalow pool will be T-shaped and will include:
• Beach/zero depth entry to provide safe access and a fun but safe wading area for children with a variety of play and splash features.
• Adjacent caregiver lounge seating to encourage proper and comfortable supervision.
• A divider wall to separate children from deeper water and other swimmers.
• An intermediate area will provide general swimming and wading space and multiuse area for aquatic exercise, therapy, swimming lessons and other programs.
• A modern lounge shelf with seating and umbrellas for adults and seniors will connect people with the water, but also provide shade and keep distance from play activities.
• New shade features to help provide cool and refreshing spaces to relax outdoors.
• A variable flow stainless steel perimeter recirculation system and filtration system will increase energy efficiency and reduce costs.
• Reduction in the overall size to provide more outdoor space, while also requiring fewer lifeguards and reduced operating needs.
• Preserve and protect swimming opportunities for residents of Tamaqua, as well as all constituents of the Tamaqua Area School District, which includes Rush, Walker, Schuylkill, and West Penn townships, along with adjacent communities who have little or no access to aquatic facilities.
