State police at Fern Ridge

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following incidents:

• Gisella Valentin, 48, of Wilkes-Barre, is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 5:51 p.m. Nov. 1.

Police said she was stopped in a 2022 Volkswagen on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township for summary violations, after which police determined she was under the influence of drugs and in possession of drug contraband.

• A 53-year-old man from Gilbert was arrested after police made a traffic stop at 9:17 a.m. Dec. 26.

Police said he was stopped in a 2002 Ford for Motor Vehicle Code violations on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township, after which police said it was determined he was operating the vehicle while his license was suspended for numerous previous convictions.

• A 64-year-old man from Effort is facing firearms sale or transfer charges after he was denied the purchase of a firearm in a transaction at 8:17 a.m. Dec. 10 at a business on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he completed the federal application/records of sale transaction and was denied the purchase.

• A second suspect is facing the same charges after an incident at 10:49 a.m. Dec. 23 at the business.

Police said he was also denied the sale after completing the federal application/records of sale. No age or hometown was given.
