John Vignone, 28, of Summit Hill, was hired last night by the Palmerton Area School Board as business manager/board secretary at a salary of $21,500.

He was hired on an 8-0 vote to replace Mrs. Althea Young, who retired on Dec. 31.

Vignone served as business manager, board secretary and wage tax officer for the Panther Valley School District since December, 1983.

Prior to that, the Nesquehoning native taught business education in the Daniel Boone School District in Berks County.

He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business education from Bloomsburg State University and has also studied accounting at Albright College, Reading.
