Carbon Career & Technical Institute

Carbon Career & Technical Institute conducted the following business recently:

• Acknowledged the appointment of Gerard Grega from the Weatherly Area School District to the Carbon Career & Technical Institute Authority (5-year term through December 2030).

• Appointed Richard Gingrich Custodial/Maintenance/Groundskeeper/Cleaner Personnel at a Step 1 salary effective Jan. 5, per the current CCTI ESPA Employment Agreement.

• Approved 28 CCTI students to attend SkillsUSA District Competition at Luzerne County Community College Thursday in Nanticoke at a cost of approximately $1,640, to cover student registration and transportation fees. Josh Reif, SkillsUSA Advisor, Maya Kowlacyk and Maritza Reinbold, SkillsUSA Assistant Advisors, and Nate Rinda, Director of Technology will chaperone this event.

• Approved three CCTI students to attend SkillsUSA District Competition at Hazleton Area Career Center Jan. 15, in Hazleton, at a cost of approximately $90 to cover student registration fees. Josh Reif, SkillsUSA Advisor will chaperone this event.

• Approved two CCTI Automotive Service Technology seniors (run-off competition and testing will be held in the classroom to determine the two competitors for this year) to attend the Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Dealers Competition. The competition will be held on Feb. 13, at the Northampton Community College Auto Garage, Bethlehem.

The competition will be chaperoned by Harold Resh, Automotive Service Technology Instructor. Feb. 13 is currently a holiday for CCTI. Students will not be in session unless this day should become a snow make-up day.

• Approved 7 Digital Marketing students to attend the 9th Annual Husky Dog Pound Competition at Bloomsburg University March 26, in Bloomsburg. Carly Rinda, digital marketing instructor, and Casey Hill, instructional aide, will chaperone this event.

• Nate Rinda, director of technology, approved to attend the Pennsylvania Educational Technology Expo & Conference (PETE & C) Feb. 2-4, at the Hershey Lodge and Hotel Hershey, Hershey at an amount not to exceed $1,005 to cover the expense of registration and lodging.
