The Andreas VFW will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the West Penn Annex. In the event of inclement weather, the meeting will not be held.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Deb will bring the 11 a.m. message at Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown Valley, followed by Holy Communion. Dawn (Heisler) Delaney will provide piano accompaniment for morning service.

Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m.

St. Peter’s — West Penn

The 9 a.m. Sunday service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn will have a joyous noise offering. Adult Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m.

Tuesday is the February newsletter deadline. The prayer group meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Retirees meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will lead the annual Sharing Sunday service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

Christmas trees

The Tamaqua Street Department will collect Christmas trees throughout the month of January.

Residents should place their trees at the curb, and the department will collect them as time and weather permits.

Christmas trees should not be placed in bags, and all lights and decorations must be removed; trees with decorations will not be picked up. Residents can also drop off trees behind the Tamaqua Borough Garage at 417 Rear E. Broad St.
