State police at Fern Ridge - crashes
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following crashes:
• Nyia N. Brown, 18, of Effort, had possible injuries after a three-vehicle crash at 11:45 a.m. Nov. 16 on Jonas Road in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said she was transported by personnel from the Lehigh Valley Health Network EMS corps to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg.
They said the crash occurred when she was driving a 2014 Ford that struck the back of a 2011 Chevrolet Impala driven by Crystal L. Compton, 30, of Northampton, pushing it into a 2011 Jeep Wrangler operated by Bryan C. Snyder, 50, of Stockertown.
Police said the Ford and Impala were towed from the scene, while the Wrangler was able to be driven away.
• Damage was minor in a two-vehicle crash at 11:02 a.m. Dec. 12 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.
Police said it involved a 2011 Nissan Rogue and a 2014 Hyundai Elantra, both which were able to be driven from the scene.
They said the driver of the Rogue failed to slow down and struck the back of the Elantra.
Neither driver was hurt. They were not identified by police.
• Police said a 2019 Infiniti was towed from the scene of a crash at 9:31 a.m. Dec. 23 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.
They said the driver, who was not identified, was eastbound when the car went out of control, traveled off the road and landed in a ditch.
• James H. Colvenbach Jr., 30, of Saylorsburg, had possible injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 6:50 a.m. Dec. 24 on Route 715 in Jackson Township.
Police said he was transported by personnel from the St. Luke’s Emergency and Transport Services to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Pocono Campus, Stroudsburg.
They said he was driving a 2011 Nissan eastbound when he lost control of it and the vehicle struck an embankment, ditch and trees.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
• No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 9:19 a.m. Dec. 27 on Route 903 in Penn Forest Township.
Police said the crash occurred when Dennis M. Ganopolskiy, 26, of Philadelphia, was driving a 2022 Hyundai Sonata that he was unable to stop for a braking vehicle ahead of him. The Sonata hit a ditch on the right side of the road. It was towed from the scene.
• Peggy A. Smart, 73, and Paul H. Smart, 72, both of Gilbert, had suspected minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 2:10 p.m. Nov. 26 on Bartonsville Woods Road, Jackson Township.
Police said they were transported by personnel from the Lehigh Valley Health Network EMS corps to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Bartonsville.
They said the crash occurred as Peggy Smart was driving a 2019 Honda Passport when she fell asleep. The vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a tree.
Peggy Smart was cited after the crash, according to police.
The Honda was towed from the scene.
