Orsulak, McKeegan reach scoring milestone

Panther Valley’s Morgan Orsulak and Weatherly’s Ian McKeegan each hit 1,000 career points on Wednesday night.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Weatherly-LLA

Ian McKeegan broke the 1,000-point barrier for his career with a 24-point effort to lead Weatherly to a 61-57 victory over Lincoln Leadership.

McKeegan scored eight points in the fourth quarter to help push the Wreckers ahead in a tight game.

Robert Baker had a game-high 31 points for Lincoln Leadership.

Panther Valley-Dieruff

Panther Valley’s Morgan Orsulak scored her 1,000th career point, but the Panthers fell to Dieruff, 77-50, in independent play.

Orsulak, who hit the milestone in the fourth quarter, paced Panther Valley with 18 points.

Jayla Rosario tallied 18 of her game-high 29 points in the second quarter to give Dieruff a commanding 39-21 halftime advantage. Aniya Holder added 17 for the Huskies, who sank 15 of 16 free throws.

Stephen Korte recorded a pin in under a minute at 133 pounds, while Gaetano Sarnelli added a third-period fall at 215. Ryan Broadbent contributed bonus points with a technical fall at 127.

Pine Grove built an early cushion and held off a late push from Panther Valley to earn a 42-36 victory.

The Cardinals jumped out to a 42-6 lead by winning eight of the first nine bouts.

Panther Valley rallied in the final five bouts, scoring 30 unanswered points behind pins from Ashley Williams (148), Anelia Bennick (170), Alisa Williams (190) and Brenda Banks (235), but the comeback fell just short.

Isaac Schoenberger paced the Panthers with 10 points, while Cooper Lynn added nine.

Tamaqua-Nativity

Tamaqua edged Nativity for a 37-35 win.

Hashin posted a game-high 16 points for Nativity, while Ziegmont added 10.

Makovec was the lone Blue Raider in double digits, as he finished with 10 points. Kovalchick added nine.

7th Grade

Blue Mountain-Panther Vy.

Blue Mountain posted a 38-20 win over Panther Valley.

Henderson scored a game-high 14 points for the Eagles, while Fanelli added seven.

Brian McLaughlin led the Panthers with eight points, while Josiah Torress finished with five.

Weatherly came out on top with a 30-17 victory over Pottsville.

Mikayla Pugh led all scorers with 13 points for the Wreckers, while Alexis Masterson finished with six.

Heidi McGinley led the Tide with six points.
