The congregations of the Episcopal and Lutheran churches of the Jim Thorpe area came together Thursday night in the true spirit of Christian unity, celebrating “a milestone of ecumenical work.”
Historic St. Mark’s Episcopal Church was the scene of the inspiring “sharing of Jesus Christ together” in the Feast of the Epiphany.
The Rev. Joseph K. Hammond Jr., host rector, described it as “a very historic event,” marking the “true beginning of the breaking down of long-existing barriers as we share our faith together.”
Participating were members of the congregations of St. Mark’s and St. John’s Episcopal ministries, the two St. John’s Lutheran churches in Jim Thorpe and Christ Lutheran Church, Penn Forest Township.
