Lower Towamensing under new leadership
Lower Towamensing Township has a leader to guide it through 2026.
Supervisors at their reorganization meeting on Monday appointed Supervisor Jay Mullikin as board chairman.
Supervisor Michael Takerer was named vice chairman.
Ian Farrell is the third supervisor.
Maxine Scherer is tax collector.
Other appointments:
• James Nanovic, township solicitor.
• Duane Dellecker, zoning officer/building code officer.
• Hanover Engineering, township engineering.
• Keystone Consulting Engineering, conflict engineer.
• Arro Consulting Engineering, sanitary/sewer engineer.
• Scott Brown, Hanover Engineering, sewage well/enforcement officer.
• Hanover Engineering, SEOs, alternate SEOs.
• Barry Isett & Associates/Lehigh Valley Inspections, agency for UCC reviews and inspections.
• Rory Koons, emergency management coordinator.
• RoniSue Ahner, Carbon County Tax Collection Committee delegate.
• Holly Heintzelman, zoning hearing board solicitor.
• James Ord, Keith George, Ralph Cortazzo, and alternate Georgia Mock, zoning hearing board members. Reappointed Ord to another three-year term, and reappointed Mock to another one-year term as alternate.
• Angela Farrell, Jay Mullikin, Steve Meining, Kim Borger, Steve Kuhns, planning commission members. Reappointed Mullikin to another four-year term on the planning commission.
• Kirk, Summa & Company, LLP, township auditor.
• Established the township treasurer’s bond at $1,500,000.
• Designated Mauch Chunk Trust and PLGIT as the township’s depositories for 2026.
• Designated one supervisor and the township secretary to approve and sign checks on behalf of the township.
• Established the 2026 mileage reimbursement rate to follow the IRS rate for 2026.
• Board of supervisors to continue to meet at 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month except November 2026 will be held at 7 p.m. the first Wednesday.
