Coroner identifies 2 men killed in Interstate 80 crash

The names of the two men who died in a one-vehicle crash Monday morning on Interstate 80 in Monroe County have been released.

Monroe County Coroner Tom Yanac Jr. said that Adam Lander, 25, of Cranberry, was pronounced deceased on scene, at 11:45 a.m. Monday, and Nathaniel Durell, 32, of Franklin, was pronounced deceased on scene at 11:46 a.m. after the crash on Route 80 in Tunkhannock Township.

The cause of death for both is blunt force injuries with the manner of death being accidental.

The Pennsylvania State Police Fern Ridge is conducting their investigation into the accident.

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks said the crash occurred eastbound at mile marker 289.6 in Tunkhannock Township.

They said a passenger truck traveling east left the roadway, traveled off the left shoulder of the road and continued east down an embankment where it struck a tree.

Police said the driver and an occupant were both ejected from the vehicle and were killed.

Police were assisted at the scene by Pocono Mountain Regional EMS, numerous fire departments and the Monroe County Coroner’s Office.
